From sketch to cut sheet
One design gives you everything you need at the bench.
-
Draw or trace
Trace a sketch or draw on a blank panel at its real size, or start from a design you saved as a template. Lines that close become pieces, a line drawn across glass cuts it in two, and neighbors share one seam, so every edge fits.
-
Color it in glass
Choose a glass color for each piece and see the finished panel before you buy a single sheet.
-
Cut it
Print a full-size cut template, send laser lines that cut each seam once, or export a DXF for CNC and waterjet.
- Color mockup SVG
- Cut template SVG
- Laser SVG
- DXF
Made for the bench
Built around how glass is really cut and put back together.
-
Real size
Set the panel in inches or millimeters. At 100% zoom you see it at its actual size, with rulers and a grid to match.
-
Pieces that fit
Neighboring pieces share a single seam and snap flush to the panel's edge, so the parts always go back together.
-
Draw over a picture
Add a sketch, a coloring page or a photo at any opacity and draw your pieces over it. Each piece can take its glass color from the picture underneath.
-
Check your cuts
Corners too sharp to cut in glass are marked as you draw, before they cost you a sheet.
-
Curves and borders
Bend any seam into a curve, flip pieces across the panel's center lines, and draw borders that split into mitered strips.
-
Your kerf, your tools
Set the width of your laser beam, CNC bit or copper foil, and the lead lines are drawn at that width.

Draw your own in the free demo, and keep any design as a template to start the next one. Can I sell what I make?
Pay once. Keep it.
No subscription, no renewals, no export credits.
Why there's no subscription
TraceTile runs on your computer or iPad, not on our servers. Your designs aren't kept in a cloud we pay for every month, so there's nothing to rent back to you. You pay once, and every update is included.
If TraceTile ever closes
We'd tell you at least 90 days ahead and email you a link to download a final version that runs on your device without signing in, so the copy you paid for keeps working.

Questions
Using TraceTile
What is TraceTile?
A pattern editor for stained glass and laser cutting. You draw or trace a design as lead lines, choose a glass color for each piece, and export full-size patterns: a color mockup, a cut template for cutting by hand, and cut lines for a laser, CNC or waterjet.
What do I need to run it?
A computer or iPad with a current version of Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox. There's nothing to install.
TraceTile is built for a mouse or trackpad today. Full touch support on iPad, including selecting pieces by touch, is on the way.
Can I trace a photo or a drawing?
Yes, by hand. Add a sketch, a coloring page or a photo as a reference image and draw your lead lines over it: the picture shows through faint glass with your lines bright on top, and a photo of a window taken at an angle can be squared up by its four corners. Each piece can take its glass from the picture underneath, gathered into a few glasses to buy. TraceTile doesn't turn a picture into pieces on its own: a picture's lines are rarely ones glass can be cut along, so you decide where the lead goes.
Which files can I export?
Four kinds: a color mockup (SVG), a cut template for hand cutting (SVG), laser cut lines (SVG, with every seam drawn once so nothing is cut twice, the outline cut last) and a DXF for CAD, CNC and waterjet machines. Every file is sized to the panel in inches or millimeters. In Illustrator, Affinity, Inkscape, Figma or CAD, each piece is its own shape with the points you drew, grouped by its glass.
Will my printed pattern be the right size?
The files carry the panel's real dimensions. Print at 100% with "fit to page" turned off, then measure one known line before you cut. Panels bigger than your paper can be printed in tiles with a poster-printing option, or full size at a print shop.
Can I sell what I make?
Yes. Designs you draw in TraceTile are entirely yours: sell the glass you make from them, or the patterns themselves.
TraceTile doesn't come with ready-made patterns. The designs on this page show what it draws; the templates you keep in it are your own.
Where are my designs saved?
On your device, in your browser's storage, saved automatically as you work. We never receive them.
Clearing your browser's data for this site deletes them, so use File, then Save a copy, to keep a .tracetile backup of anything you care about.
Trying it free
What can I do for free?
Everything except exporting: draw, trace, color and keep your own templates, for as long as you like. There's no sign-up, no time limit and no card.
To try exporting too, start the 7-day free trial.
How does the free trial work?
Create a free account and every export is unlocked for 7 days, on up to 2 devices. There's no card and nothing to cancel. When the trial ends, exporting stops until you buy. Your designs, and the files you exported, stay yours.
One free trial per person. Start it from any export in the app (Share, or the menu's Export), or start it here.
Do I keep my designs when I buy?
Yes. They're already saved on your device. Buy in the same browser, sign in if you haven't for the trial, and export them.
License and devices
What does paying once include?
The full app, every export, and every update we release. There's no subscription and nothing renews.
How many devices can I use?
2 at a time. Sign in on as many as you like: open TraceTile on another one and your license moves there, and the device you used longest ago stops exporting until you use it again.
For a studio or a classroom, email us about more devices.
Why do I need to sign in?
Only to confirm your free trial or your purchase. You sign in with your email and a password. Your account holds your license, not your designs.
Do I need an internet connection?
Yes. TraceTile is an online service: you need a connection to open it, sign in and keep your license active. Exporting needs that connection: the app checks in every few minutes while it's open, and a device that can't reach us stops exporting after 15 minutes. Drawing and saving keep working offline. Your designs themselves live on your device and are saved there as you work.
Can I share my license?
What if TraceTile shuts down?
We'd tell license holders at least 90 days ahead, then email each one a link to download a final version, with instructions for running it on their own device. It works offline, without signing in, so the copy you paid for keeps designing and exporting. Features that need our servers (such as accounts and share links) end with the service.
Payment and refunds
How much does it cost?
$99, paid once, during launch. After launch the price goes to $150. If you buy at the launch price, your license is exactly the same as anyone's who paid more.
Is it a subscription?
No. You pay once and you're never charged again.
How do I pay?
Checkout is run by Paddle, our reseller and merchant of record. You can pay by card, and by PayPal, Apple Pay or Google Pay where they're available. Paddle adds sales tax or VAT where it applies and emails your receipt.
What's your refund policy?
Try it first: the editor is free, and the 7-day free trial includes every export, with no card, so you can be sure before you buy. Paddle, our merchant of record, handles refunds under its Refund Policy and the consumer laws where you live, and we always put right a duplicate charge, a charge you didn't make, or a license we end without cause. The Refund Policy has the details.
Privacy
Do you see my designs or photos?
No. Your designs, photos and traces are processed and stored on your device and are never uploaded to us.
What do you collect?
Your name and email address (and, only if you give them, billing details for checkout), your purchase record from Paddle or your trial dates, and the devices signed in to your license. No ads, no tracking, and no cookies on this website. The Privacy Policy has the details.
How do I delete my account?
Email support@tracetile.app from the address on your account and we'll delete it within 30 days. Paddle keeps the purchase records that tax law requires.
Something else? Email support@tracetile.app and we'll get back to you.
